Alexis and Lou!

Alexis and Lou!

Meet Alexis Soni and Lou Groover, who dined with us last week…

Lou is an avid meat-eater and Alexis has been a vegetarian for 30 years! Since birth!  That’s the first time I’ve met someone that has been a vegetarian their entire life – never even tried chicken, meat or fish… Incredible!

He ordered the Lamb Chops and she ordered the Grilled Tofu Steak with the Latin.  They both raved about how much they both loved the food and how unique it is for them to find a  place that they both love.  Our ideal customers!

They left wildly thrilled about the food, place, concept and service, and are planning to come back often!

Alexis is a personal trainer who serves people thru exercise, nutrition and health outdoors by the River in Dunwoody.  She’s planning to promote FuegoMundo to her customers as a healthy and delicious dining option!

Alexis and Lou – it was a great pleasure to meet you. Glad you are part of the family!

Meal with Cilantro

Meal with Cilantro

Who Knew Cilantro was this Good?

Want a cure-all for viral and bacterial infections and more? Well read on… consuming cilantro greatly increases our ability to clear up recurring infections, both viral and bacterial especially when eaten with Omega-3 enriched foods such as nuts and fish!

Cilantro has a mild peppery taste whose flat-leaf comes from the young coriander plant.  It is similar looking to flat-leafed parsley.  Cilantro has traditionally been used in many regions of South America, and in Middle Eastern, Mexican & Asian cooking.

There are many more wonderful benefits…

¨    Aids in Digestion
¨    Raises Good Cholesterol (HDL) & Lowers Bad Cholesterol (LDL)
¨    A good source of Dietary Fiber
¨    A good source of Iron
¨    A good source of Magnesium
¨    An anti-inflammatory that can alleviate symptoms of Arthritis
¨    Rich in phyto-nutrients and flavonoids
¨    Protects against urinary tract infections
¨    Prevents Nausea
¨    Can help protect against the salmonella bacteria
¨    Helps cleans the body of heavy metals like Mercury, Lead & Aluminum

At FuegoMundo we use Fresh Cilantro as one of the main Herbs & Spices in our Special FuegoMundo Marinade.  The marinade is used on most of the Wood-Fire Grilled Entrées like the Steaks, Chicken, Turkey, Tofu, Corvina, Tilapia & Salmon.

We hope you enjoy the unique flavor of Cilantro and the many health benefits!

[Enjoy this note from a recent catering customer...]

Hello Masha,

Sharon is out on vacation the next week so I wanted to get back to you.

Everyone loved the food yesterday. The meat went the fastest (of course)
but everyone continued to comment on the flavors of the rest of the food.
One person even said they normally do not like black beans but really liked
the ones from FuegoMundo.

Personally I really enjoyed my little vegan side. It’s not often I can go
to a restaurant that has quinoa! I look forward to bringing my family
there for either lunch or dinner.

Thank you again for your time and for the great food!

Take care,

Brandy

The crowd at the TweetUp!

Wow – what a great party! We at FuegoMundo had the great pleasure of hosting a recent TweetUp at the restaurant. A TweetUp is a face-to-face gathering of folks – an opportunity to network, build relationships, and engage your community.

We had 70 folks attend and spend time with us. What fun!

Not only was it a great experience to meet so many wonderful people, it was a wonderful opportunity to showcase FuegoMundo and let the world know what we are about.

Another shot from the TweetUp!

Another shot from the TweetUp!

We were so pleased with how things went, and received so much wonderful feedback, we intend to host these events on a regular basis. But you don’t need to wait for the next TweetUp. We would love to host any other gatherings of people. So, just give us a call, and we can tailor a special night for you and your group!

Many thanks for all who attended the other night, and we look forward to welcoming you all back. And don’t forget to let us know how we can serve you down the road.

After the TweetUp, most Tweeps stayed to dine!

Here are some other blog write-ups from the event: one from Stephanie Lloyd, and one from Steve Burns!

As you know, social media has been an integral part of our marketing outreach. To be honest, this TweetUp was also an experiment to see if we could build a crowd utilizing the tools.

The verdict? What a success! Although the event was promoted over a short time, it took us months of building a community, and making friends.

Social media will continue to be a place where we will engage our community, share knowledge about healthy eating, South American culture, and most importantly – making friends with folks like you.

See you soon!

What Customer Feedback Means to FuegoMundo!

Our Customer Feedback Card

Our Customer Feedback Card

At FuegoMundo, we are centered around YOUR customer experience.

From before we even opened our doors, we believed that feedback from you, our customers, would help make us a better place.

That’s why – at each table – we leave customer feedback cards there for you to fill out and submit to a confidential and locked box by the front door.

And after just a month of being in business, we already have hundreds of responses from you. A lot of what you are saying is positive stuff – and we are grateful. But we are also getting some great – and honest – feedback on ways to make significant improvements!

And we are listening. We have made real changes based on what you are suggesting!

We are, quite frankly, surprised at the amount of feedback we are getting. Maybe it is because we are still relatively new, but KEEP IT COMING!

Getting feedback from you is the best way we can gauge how we are doing. We sincerely want you to have a great experience when you visit FuegoMundo, and we plan to NEVER stop looking for ways to improve what we are doing.

So, a hearty thanks from all of us. Keep your comments coming! We appreciate the important role you are playing!

What else can we do to improve your experience?

Plaintains, Rice, and Black Beans

Plantains, Rice, and Black Beans

DID YOU KNOW?

Rice and Beans, when eaten together, form a complete high fiber vegetarian protein?  Beans and grains have a symbiotic relationship in which the amino acids of each complement one another to form a complete protein, which is the foundation for the growth and development in humans.

RICE

Rice is one of the few foods in the world which is entirely non-allergenic and gluten-free.  Rice is a grain belonging to the grass family, and is consumed by nearly one-half the entire world population.

Many countries and continents like South America & Asia are dependent on rice as a staple food. Most believe the roots of rice come from 3000 BC India, where natives discovered the plant growing in the wild.  Cultivation and cooking methods are thought to have spread to the west rapidly and by medieval times, southern Europe saw the introduction of rice as a hearty grain. The first cultivators of rice in America did so by accident after a storm damaged ship docked in the Charleston, South Carolina harbor. The captain of the ship handed over a small bag of rice to a local planter as a gift, and by 1726, Charleston was exporting more than 4,000 tons of rice a year.

Rice, especially brown rice, is an extremely healthy food;  it’s naturally non-fat, cholesterol-free and sodium-free. It is a complex carbohydrate containing only 103 calories per one-half-cup serving. Complex carbohydrates are digested slowly, allowing the body to utilize the energy released over a longer period which is nutritionally efficient.  Rice contains useful quantities of potassium and the B vitamins;  thiamin and niacin. An average portion of rice (50g) provides about 11% of the estimated average daily requirement of protein.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture dietary guideline using the Eating Right Pyramid suggests that the foods lowest in fats, oils and sugars (for example fruits, vegetables, dry beans and grains like rice) should make up the largest portion of our daily meals.

BLACK BEANS

All beans are naturally low in fat, and provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, complex carbohydrates, protein, magnesium, essential B vitamins, iron & antioxidants.  The high fiber contents can help naturally lower cholesterol and keep blood sugar levels from rising too rapidly, making them a wise choice for people with diabetes, and those with fat restricted diets.   Eaten regularly, beans can provide protection against heart disease, cancer and aging.

Beans come in all sizes and colors, so why should you choose black beans over other beans?

The darker the beans coat the higher its antioxidant activity.  Since black is as dark as it gets, Black Beans contain the most antioxidant activity than any beans, followed by red, brown, yellow and white beans.  The darker colored seed coats are associated with higher levels of flavanoids.  Black beans also contain the trace mineral molybdenum that can help detoxify sulfites, a preservative that causes headaches, stomach aches and disorientation.  Even if you’re not sensitive to sulfites, black beans offer a superior edge to other beans as they are loaded with antioxidant compounds…black is better!

John Galambos, Mayor Eva Galambos, and Masha

Just wanted to share some great shots of Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos! The Mayor was kind enough to spend a lot of quality time with us during our grand opening adventure.

Not only did she attend the press conference with the SBA, she also was kind enough to attend the VIP Opening Party.

We are so grateful that Mayor and John Galambos helped launch FuegoMundo off to such a strong start.

Mayor, we look forward to being good neighbors to all our friends in Sandy Springs!

P.S. Both the Mayor and John filled out the feedback form giving us some good tips to improve the restaurant. We won’t share what they said, but it was most helpful!
