From Uruguay

Just wanted to tell you about a very special annual Holocaust related program, called Am Yisrael Chai, happening next week.  It’s very close to my heart, and this year will focus on the effects of the Holocaust on the Jewish communities of Latin America.  It’s happening next week, April 14th, 2010, at Congregation Beth Tefillah, at 6:45 PM and open to the public. The website is:

www.amyisraelchaiatlanta.org

They’re expecting 200-300 people to attend.  There’s going to be over 12 South American countries represented, I’m going to be representing Colombia and speaking of my family’s journey from Poland to Barranquilla, Colombia. I will include pictures in the presentation.

Also, my father’s artwork will be on display for the first time. There’s going to be Kosher Tapas by FuegoMundo included in the program.  No charge to attend, but $10-$100 donations are encouraged.  I very much hope you can make it!

Udi, Masha, and James Ball

This is a photo of FuegoMundo friend James Ball.

He resides up in North Georgia, but frequently ventures down into Metro Atlanta on business and to participate in local events, including a few TweetUps at FuegoMundo.

The reason we are mentioning him today is that, out of the kindness of his own heart, he published a wonderful blog post about our social media efforts. You can read it here. Thanks for your friendship James – we just wanted to say thank you!

Wow, what a great time last night. We love hosting TweetUps for the Atlanta community, and so enjoy when our family comes and has a great time. Thanks for being there, and for being a part of our community. We can’t wait for 2010 – we will have even more fun!

A special thanks to hosts Laurie Ruettimann, Stephanie A Lloyd, and Todd Schnick. And an extra special thanks to those who traveled far and wide to be there. We appreciate you.

Happy Holidays!

A few months ago, FuegoMundo was proud to host Atlanta’s first Red Shoe Project TweetUp. Hosts were Stephanie A. Lloyd and Michael Long. There is a new video out by the group showing their events from this past Fall. FuegoMundo is proud to be mentioned, along with owner Masha Hleap-Hershkovitz:

Team Boobcamp!

Team Boobcamp!

[a letter from our friends at Operation Boob Camp!]

Dear Masha & Udi,

Thank you so much for your generous donations and time spent dedicated to making a fun atmosphere and delicious food for our fundraising events at FuegoMundo. The Operation Boob Camp team, and Kristen and myself especially, wanted to let you know that with your help, we ended up raising exactly $40,000!!!  What an accomplishment!  And we really couldn’t have done it without you.

Your donations will be utilized by both the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust fund toward the research, education, treatment and prevention of breast cancer. With breast cancer in my family, I am truly hoping for a cure by the time I have daughters of my own. I am so lucky that my mother is a survivor because I could not imagine my world without her and I hope above all hopes that in the short future we will never have to wonder if any of us will be touched by this disease.

Again, thank you for your support and graciousness. You two are a special pair! I hope to see you at the next wine event coming up.

Thank you,

Operation Boob Camp – Cindy, Kristen, Hollis, Marshall, David, Sandra, Marcus, Katie, Kim, Joyce, Sylvia
